ABOUT THIS WINE
This is our first release of Pinot Blanc and the first time a white wine other than Chardonnay has been produced by August Briggs Winery. After searching for years to produce a new white varietal we contacted our friends the Dutton Family and were able to secure a few tons of the Pinot Blanc grapes from their famed Shop Block. They name this vineyard after their shop we all their viticulture office are situated…. Hence the ‘Shop’. This will be a perfect wine for the days when spring leads into summer.
The grapes were harvested on September 24 and immediately destemmed and sorted. The grapes were then gently pressed and racked into 4 – 60 gallon stainless steel barrels and 1 – 25 gallon stainless barrel. It was aged for an additional 6 months then gently bottled. Due to the entire fermentation and ageing in stainless steel the wine gives off wonderful aromas of nectarine, jasmine and mandarins. The taste is bright and supple with flavors of poached pears, white nectarines and a hint of bitter almond. If you don’t like Chardonnay then this is what you should be drinking! Only 110 cases produced.
