ABOUT THIS WINE

For those of you that have been Pinot Meunier fans of ours over the years, our Napa Valley bottling is the Pinot Meunier you are familiar with and this will be the last ever from the famed Frediani vineyard. Right after the harvest these vines were ripped out and will be replanted with a different varietal so purchase as soon as possible so you will not miss out!

The 2013 Napa Valley Pinot Meunier is an elegant wine that is like velvet in a glass. Bright aromas and flavors of cranberry, tart cherry, and vanilla bean dominate the bouquet with just a hint of sandalwood. The palate has a smooth texture with nice balancing acidity that gives it a long and memorable finish. This is just great to drink and show off to friends.

After hand sorting, the clusters were destemmed into a small open-top fermenter. After a two-day cold soak, the must was inoculated with Assmanhausen yeast. The cap was punched-down by hand, twice daily. Following primary fermentation the wine was inoculated for malolactic fermentation and barreled down to traditional burgundian barrels. The barrels used were 20% new oak from the Allier forest in France, and 80% two and three year old French barrels. The wine was aged in barrel for 9 months. The last 180 cases!
